The law offices of Lee & Fairman understand that being injured and off work is stressful for the employee and the entire family. Our lawyers have assisted injured workers for nearly 30 years.
The Worker’s Compensation law was developed to allow employees and employers to work together to assist employees when injured and to allow employees to quick access to medical treatment and payment for injuries.
Important things to remember when injured at work:
- Report any injury regardless how minor. It is better to report the injury and then determine that treatment is not needed than not to report the injury and determine later that treatment is required and no report of injury was made;
- Follow the treatment ordered by the doctor. Failure to follow the treatment may been seen as non-compliance and therefore further necessary treatment may be refused;
- Attend all appointments scheduled by the doctor as failure to attend the appointment may be seen as non-compliance.
Under the Indiana Worker’s Compensation law an employer has the right to direct medical treatment which means the employer selects the doctor and the treatment modality for the employee. An employee has the duty to comply with the treatment provided by the employer.
At LEE & FAIRMAN we will work to provide you with attentive representation and work to secure the best possible settlement for you.
